摘要: Fly ash samples were collected from the electrostatic precipitator of a municipal incinerator in Hong Kong. The physical and chemical properties fly particles diameter smaller than 10 μm studied by scanning electron microscope incorporated with an X-ray energy dispersive microanalyzer, atomic absorption spectrophotometer, powder diffractometer. very heterogeneous size shape had high levels trace metals (Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn). cytotoxicity was assessed using vitro culture assay rat alveolar macrophages. It found that damaged surface morphology cell, decreased cell viability phagocytic activity, increased release cytoplasmic (lactate dehydrogenase) lysosomal (β-glucuronidase) marker enzymes into medium. No hemolytic effect could be measured on red blood cells, indicating plasma membrane is not target site ash.
