Publishing behavior of individuals and most prolific authors in the economics literature

摘要: This paper examines the publication behavior of individuals and identifies most prolific authors in top 20 economics journals. study finds that majority (57.7 percent) published only once these journals from 1963 to 1988, while 11.5 percent contributed more than five times. Among articles by authors, 68.1 are single authored, 27.3 biauthored, 4.4 triauthored. The average percentage one time (72.5) for individual is greater (57.7) all as a whole, suggesting tend diversify their publications across different rankings economists reinforce notion quantity not always quality. Three 50 won Nobel prizes, four second prizes. Large numbers Laureates ranked. Last, this three graduate programs have produced 100 scholars, indicating strong institutional dominance production writers.
