摘要: There is a pressing need for antiviral agents that are effective against multiple classes of viruses. Broad specificity might be achieved by targeting phospholipids widely expressed on infected host cells or viral envelopes. We reasoned events occurring during virus replication (for example, cell activation preapoptotic changes) would trigger the exposure normally intracellular anionic outer surface virus-infected cells. A chimeric antibody, bavituximab, was used to identify and target exposed phospholipids. Infection with Pichinde (a model Lassa fever virus, potential bioterrorism agent) led Bavituximab treatment cured overt disease in guinea pigs lethally virus. Direct clearance infectious from blood antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity seemed major mechanisms. Combination therapy bavituximab ribavirin more than either drug alone. also bound other viruses rescued mice lethal mouse cytomegalovirus infections. Targeting seems safe effective. Our study demonstrates virions may provide new generation agents.
