摘要: Abstract This paper reports the outcome of an investigation into tribological (friction and wear) properties a group aluminium alloy-based SiC particulate reinforced metal–matrix composites (MMCs). These MMCs (Al–4.5Cu/SiCp) were fabricated using rheocasting process. The amount particulates was kept at 13 vol%. A series unlubricated pin-on-disk tests carried out to examine characteristics this MMCs. In general, sliding speed 1 m/s normal loads ranging from 30 70 N, rate wear increased with increasing applied load. More specifically, rheocast samples exhibited better resistance higher when compared having same composition but powder metallurgy route incorporating mechanical alloying. has also been found be comparable commercially available similar composition, suggesting that process used in present study can produce quality for applications.
