摘要: The standardization of surgical techniques supplemented with appropriate neoadjuvant chemoradiation has led to the decline in local recurrence rates rectal cancer (LRRC) from 25-50% 5-10%. outcomes reported for intervention LRRC is encouraging, however, a number controversies exist especially ultra-advanced and palliative setting. Incorporating health-related quality life (HRQoL) this field could supplement traditional clinical endpoints assessing effectiveness cohort. This review aimed identify HRQOL themes that might be relevant patients LRRC. A systematic was undertaken all studies reporting HRQoL Each study evaluated regards its design statistical methodology. meta-synthesis qualitative quantitative themes. total 14 were identified, 501 patients, 80% undergoing surgery. primary endpoint eight studies. Eight identified: physical, psychological social impact, symptoms, financial occupational relationships others, communication healthcare professionals sexual function. impact on multifactorial wide ranging, issues identified are not included current measures. These must incorporated into assessment through development validated, disease-specific tool.
