Does living in a food insecure household impact on the diets and body composition of young children? Findings from the Southampton Women’s Survey

摘要: Background Little is known about food insecurity in the UK. The aims of this study were to assess prevalence and factors associated with a UK cohort examine whether diets, reported health anthropometry young insecure children differed from those other children. Methods Southampton Women9s Survey prospective which detailed information lifestyle body composition 3000 women was collected before during pregnancy. Between 2002 2006, 1618 families followed up when child 3 years old. Food determined using Household Security Scale. child9s height weight measured; diet assessed by frequency questionnaire. Results 4.6% households insecure. more common where mothers younger, smokers, lower social class, receipt financial benefits who had higher deprivation score (all p Conclusions Our data suggest that there are significant numbers poorer diets have important implications for their development lifelong health.
