摘要: A cell-free alveolar extracellular matrix has been prepared from the lungs of several species young and adult animals by a procedure consisting extraction parenchymal fragments with detergents Triton X-100 sodium deoxycholate. The isolated preparations were ultrastructurally heterogeneous amorphous basement membranes associated interstitial collagen microfibrillar components as shown histochemical staining their electron microscopic appearance. amino acid carbohydrate compositions these had collagenous nature which resembled in many respects that some pure membranes. Urea solubilized distinctly less fraction was particularly rich acidic acids, aspartic glutamic chemical similarity to structural glycoproteins. Extraction samples ureamercaptoethanol pepsin digestion insolubilized residues gave more fractions. Our ultrastructural examination clearly indicate they cannot properly be designated These findings anatomical characteristics blood-air interface make it probable others using sonication procedures, similar those reported here, not but actually mixtures membranes, collagens microfibrils. It would appear membrane form comparable such renal glomerulus.
