摘要: The handicrafts made from Syngonanthus nitens scapes have been an important source of income for rural communities in the Jalapao region Brazil since late 1990s. This study analyzed S. harvest and management techniques economic importance handicrafts. We also tested effects on population ecology. Handicrafts provide about US$1,800/year per artisan, being especially to women. Experimental scape harvesting mid-October, which is when knowledgeable artisans seeds are mature, had no consistent density, plant survival, or reproduction (clonal sexual) after one year. Since 40% new recruits come seeds, seed maturation, combined with removal only not flowerheads, can allow remain populations help ensure sustainability growing handicraft activity. Important aspects include high value fact they perishable.
