摘要: Abstract Enigmocarnus chloropiformis Buck gen. et sp. nov. is described on the basis of a single male from east central Texas. The phylogeny Carnidae analyzed based matrix 25 morphological characters, and key to World genera presented. new genus characterized by reduced head chaetotaxy (bristles short mostly pale), notable gray pruinosity body, unique configuration pregenital sclerites (the protandrium), which precludes placement this species in any previously Carnidae. possesses nearly symmetrical protandrium like Carnus Meoneura, but position sternite 7 indicates that symmetry evolved independently different path. protandrial peculiarities exhibited are discussed framework Carnoidea relationships.
