摘要: Several questions were addressed regarding breast cancer outcome, predictors of and young age at diagnosis. Is there evidence that outcome is worse in younger women compared with other groups? Do patients have a greater frequency adverse prognostic factors? If associated poor it an intrinsic independent predictor, or the due to factor profiles? methods used answer these applied those reports which categories carefully defined: 1) detailed review population-based literature, 2) synthesis published cooperative group single institution univariate multivariate analyses, 3) new analysis 8738-patient San Antonio database. Overall, epidemiologic studies suggested worst survival when matched similarly staged older cohorts. Univariate trends analyses confirmed more often had positive lymph nodes, larger tumors, negative steroid hormone receptors. Significantly cancers less than 35 years high S-phase fractions abnormal expression p53. Multivariate modeling was predictor few standard factors considered model, but descriptors such as tumor grade fraction important available. These data support conclusion "young age" serves surrogate for profiles suggest future study.
