摘要: This study describes the evaluation of a modified air-liquid interface BALB/c 3T3 cytotoxicity method for assessment smoke aerosols in vitro. The functionality and applicability this protocol was assessed by comparing profiles from eight different cigarettes. Three reference cigarettes, 1R5F, 3R4F CORESTA Monitor 7 were used to put data into perspective five bespoke experimental products manufactured, ensuring balanced controlled study. Manufactured cigarettes matched key variables such as nicotine delivery, puff number, pressure drop, ventilation, carbon monoxide, free dry particulate matter blend, but significantly vapor phase via addition two types quantities adsorptive carbon. Specifically manufacturing ensures comparisons can be made consistent manner allows research ask targeted questions, without confounding product variables. results demonstrate vapor-phase associated cytotoxic effects clear differences between tested their profiles. has further characterized vitro biological response relationship confirmed that is directly proportional amount available toxicants cigarette smoke, when using Vitrocell® VC 10 exposure system. supports strengthens use aerosol based options appropriate analysis induced responses may especially beneficial generated alternative tobacco products.
