A multivariate analysis of socioeconomic and attitudinal factors predicting commuters’ mode of travel

摘要: A random sample of workers was surveyed to assess the influence different variables thought play a role in decision commute by particular travel mode. Univariate analyses revealed significant differences between bus riders (n = 125) and car commuters (n=547) on several independent socioeconomic attitudinal factors, discriminant analysis correctly classified three types with 58%−71 % accuracy, using these measures. Solo drivers (n=265) carpoolers (n=282) differed their attitudes about carpooling driving alone, although both groups, as well riders, were favorably disposed automobile travel. The generally positive attitude all toward is discussed terms car’s ability reduce information costs involved traveling.
