摘要: Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine malignancy in adults, with 44,670 (10,740M:33,930F) newly diagnosed cases reported USA 2010 and 1,690 deaths. The incidence of thyroid continues to rise, a 2.4-fold increase since 1975, based largely upon detection small (≤2 cm) tumors, which represent 87 % cases. After initial diagnosis, staging risk stratification are used individualize treatment decisions, inform on prognosis for an individual patient, decide use postoperative 131I therapy, determine frequency intensity follow-up. A growing number studies confirm that radioiodine SPECT/CT powerful diagnostic tool, overcoming many limitations encountered planar imaging interpretation. reduces equivocal foci neck body allows more precise characterization etiology (benign vs. malignant) focal uptake, contributing completion by improved N M scores. additional information obtained impacts management significant patients. new technology has changed field may lead reassessment current protocols guidelines cancer.
