摘要: Interest in transcutaneous electrical stimulation of the lumbosacral spinal cord is increasing human electrophysiological and clinical studies. The effects on lower limb muscles depend depolarization segmentally organized posterior root afferents and, thus, rostro-caudal site. In previous studies, selective was achieved by varying positions single self-adhesive electrodes over thoracolumbar spine. Here, we developed a multi-electrode surface array consisting 3 × 8 electrode pads tested its stimulation-site specificity. placed longitudinally spine covering T10-L2 vertebrae. Two different hydrogel layer configurations were utilized: adhered to all configuration comprised eight separate strips attached three transverse each level. Voltage measurements demonstrated that an effectively focused field distribution along longitudinal extent not accomplished when using continuous layer, segmental possible. produced electric at level selected for stimulation. This allowed preferential elicitation root-muscle reflexes either L2-L4 innervated quadriceps or L5-S2 triceps surae muscle groups. Such shall allow improved control conditions studies time-dependent site-specific patterns neuromodulation applications.
