Toward effective nature conservation on farmland: making farmers matter

摘要: Until now the main instrument to counteract loss of biodiversity and landscape quality in European countryside has been agri-environment schemes (AES), which offer short-term payments for performing prescribed environmental management behaviors. In our opinion this approach is, its current set-up, not a sustainable way enhancing quality. Here we will argue that conservation agricultural areas is also social challenge. To change farmers’ behaviors toward more farmland biodiversity, instruments should aim influence individual farmer's motivation behavior. We place “in hands minds farmers.”
