摘要: Abstract Background/Purpose: Improved outcomes of preterm infants born to mothers treated prenatally with corticosteroids have been documented. The authors investigated the role prenatal maternal corticosteroid therapy in congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). Methods: Five CDH lambs ewes given 0.5 mg/kg betamethasone intravenously 24 hours before delivery (single-dose), four similarly dosed at 48 and (double-dose), five untreated control were studied. After 2 ventilation, compliance, arterial oxygen (po ) carbon dioxide (pco concentrations recorded. Lavage protein phospho-lipid levels measured, lung tissue was analyzed for antioxidant enzyme activity (AOE). Results: No improvement gas exchange noted either treatment group. Significant increases compliance ( P = .02) double-dose steroid group, which different from that or controls. Minimal changes AOE activities seen administration. Conclusions: Although metabolic not significant, marked double-dosed group suggests a potential CDH. Further timing dosage studies are warranted this model.
