摘要: The hippocampal dentate gyrus maintains its capacity to generate new neurons throughout life. In animal models, neurogenesis is increased by cognitive tasks, and experimental ablation of disrupts specific modalities learning memory. humans, the impact on cognition remains unclear. Here, we assessed neurogenic potential in human isolating adult neural stem cells from 23 surgical en bloc hippocampus resections. After proliferation progenitor cell pool vitro identified two distinct patterns. Adult with a high were obtained 11 patients. Most cultures capable neuronal differentiation (53 i?½ 13% population). A low was observed 12 specimens, only few differentiated into (4 2%). This reflected reduced numbers proliferating vivo as well granule immunoreactive for doublecortin, brain-derived neurotrophic factor cyclin-dependent kinase 5 group. High groups differed dramatically declarative memory tasks. Patients had normal performance prior epilepsy surgery, while patients showed severe impairment. Histopathological examination revealed highly significant correlation between loss same patienti?½s regenerative (r = 0.813; P < 0.001; linear regression: R2adjusted 0.635), ability store recall memories 0.966; 0.9). Our results suggest that encoding related brain.
