摘要: A pancreatic polypeptide with some hormonal properties has been purified from chicken and turkey pancreas using acid-ethanol extraction, gel filtration anion-exchange chromatography. The material crystallised. crystals are monoclinic space group C2. Preliminary isomorphous replacement experiments have so far provided a single-site derivative Hg(N03)Z. low-resolution electron density map phased this anomalous scattering considered together Patterson function calculations suggest that the molecules partly helical arranged as compact dimer about crystallographic two-fold axis. structure association of these compared those insulin glucagon, protein hormones respectively, which studied in great detail. During studies on isolation insulin, Kimmel co-workers [l] side fraction. This chemically characterised data is accumulating in- dicates it third hormone [2]. Homologous polypeptides various mammalian sources sequenced [3]. avian comprises single chain 36 amino acids
