摘要: Abstract Camel dairy products have long been recognised as important in pastoralist livelihoods northern Kenya, but only recent years has camel milk marketed commercially the urban centres of region. This article charts commodification Isiolo, considering evolution from simple hawking, led by female vendors, to commercial retail sales and international exports involving investment higher levels capital. Gender labour dynamics, capital investment, emerge critical themes this story milk's commodification. The formalisation regularisation inevitably a requirement for greater professionalisation firmer control production, moving away itinerant women who initially pioneered towards owners education are better able capitalise trade.
