Assessing Market for Multi-National Corporations at Nigeria's Bottom of the Pyramid: Hints from Consumer Behaviour

摘要: Undoubtedly, poverty reduction has become a front-burner issue in development and business agenda. Since its announcement defense by advocates as potent weapon against poverty, the Bottom of Pyramid (BoP) concept been bedeviled controversies. A major controversy is whether or not Multi-National Corporations (MNCs) can serve BoP market profitably without further impoverishing poor. The main objective this study therefore to assess if there for MNCs at Nigeria's BoP. primary data were collected using Questionnaires administered consumers South Western Nigeria. secondary used obtained from National Bureau Statistics Surveys; 2009/2010 Consumption Pattern Consumer Expectation. Using combination data, employed multiple regression analysis on determinants consumption Pyramid. Findings mostly conflict with positions advocates. On basis trends Behavior composition baskets goods Pyramid, concluded that would be better served indigenous micro, small medium enterprises than Corporations.
