Savings and Economies of Marriage: Intra-Marriage Financial Distributions as Determinants of Savings*

摘要: This paper presents an inter-temporal model of individual savings behavior with intra-marriage financial distributions and uncertainty about marriage divorce. Spouses paying these experience diseconomies marriage; the spouses who receive them benefit from economies marriage. We show that higher likelihoods divorce are associated lower (higher) personal rates in presence (economies) These results hint at possibility structural patterns social may be root lack effectiveness conventional policy instruments, such as tax incentives, to promote savings.
