摘要: Krill growth and physiological condition were measured during the Baseline Research on Oceanography, Environment - West (BROKE-West) large-scale survey of Western Indian Ocean sector (30-80 E) Southern Ocean. related to sea-surface temperature (SST) Chlorophyll a levels. Estimates Antarctic krill obtained using Instantaneous Growth Rate (IGR) technique, which reflects in situ intermoult period prior capture. A total 10,362 incubated IGR experiments conducted board research vessel. The average rate ranged between 1.89.6% body length throughout study area (n=1557). Juvenile sub-adult showed higher rates compared adults. decreased with size for all maturity classes, largest (total >50 mm) expressing negative growth. On average, mean was (6.5%) western section (30-55 E) east (56-80 (4.2%). In significantly recorded sampled close ice-edge (8.4%) open ocean (4.2%), may be due presence phytoplankton blooms associated retreating sea ice. However, eastern occurred from caught areas closer coast (5.4% 2.6% respectively). terms digestive gland as percentage carapace length. relative 0.46 0.66 (n=2403). significant positive correlation found (r2=0.7), indicating that is feeding events. Both increased increasing levels declining SST.
