摘要: Introduction Research topics in the field of speech-related gesture that have received considerable attention are function gesture, its synchronization with speech, and semiotic properties. While findings these studies often interesting implications for theories about processing human brain, few addressed this issue framework information processing. In chapter, I will present a general architecture production. It can be used as starting point investigating processes representations involved speech. For convenience, use term ‘model'when referring to ‘processing architecture’ throughout chapter. Since information-processing models is not believed by every researcher an appropriate way (see, e.g., McNeill 1992), first argue essential theoretical tools understanding then proceed formulate new model production called Sketch Model. extension Levelt's (1989) speech The modifications additions discussed detail. At end section, working Model demonstrated, using number illustrative gesture/speech fragments examples. Subsequently, compare both McNeill's (1992) growth-point theory Krauss, Chen & Gottesman (this volume). Krauss et al. formulated within same framework, they based on fundamentally different assumptions.
