摘要: Background: A new herbal drug setarud (IMOD TM ) containing selenium, carotene, and flavonoids, was expected to have positive effects on lipid metabolism liver functions, due the nature of its primary components. This study designed determine effectiveness in reducing risk development diet-induced hypercholesterolemia laboratory animals. Methods: Two groups male rabbits (n=10 per group) as: intact control regular chow, were fed a high-cholesterol diet, two experimental maintained same diet treated with different daily doses (0.02 g/kg 0.04 g/kg) (brand name IMOD ® , Pars Roos, Iran). The treatment then compared one another for which determined by changes blood sugar, serum levels, function tests. Results: Results showed that had important benefits alleviating impact highcholesterol lipids markers drug-treated relative hyperlipidemic controls (p < 0.001). more favorable modification total cholesterol triglyceride levels atherogenic index found animals, received drug, as 0.02 dose group 0.05). Assessment protein, albumin, transaminases, bilirubin no animals during period study. Conclusion: From results this it may concluded has dosedependent acts an effective antihyperglycemic agent.
