摘要: The effect of glassy-phase, using AlN and Lu2O3 as sintering additives, on the microstructure mechanical properties liquid-phase-sintered, subsequently annealed SiC ceramics was investigated. strongly influenced by additive composition, which determines intergranular phase (IGP). average thickness grains increased with increasing /(AlN + Lu2O3) ratio, whereas aspect ratio decreased molar ratio. homophase heterophase boundaries were completely crystalline in all specimens. room temperature (RT) strength RT toughness showed a minimum at 0.6. best results obtained when 0.2. flexural fracture >700 MPa ~6 MPa.m1/2 RT. high critically affected chemistry, especially content Al IGP. temperatures ³ 1500oC 0.5. Flexural strengths 1600oC 610 ± 80 540 30 MPa, respectively. beneficial new compositions (Lu2O3-AlN) high-temperature attributed to crystallization or removal IGP introduction into SiC, i.e., reduction from IGP, resulting an improved refractoriness
