摘要: Pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) are found in measureable quantities within the aquatic environment. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressants one class of pharmaceutical compound that has received a lot attention. Consistent with most PPCPs, pharmacokinetics physiological impacts SSRI treatment have been well-studied small mammals humans this, combined evolutionary conservation serotonergic system across vertebrates, allows for read-across known effects to potential on organisms. Using an Adverse Outcome Pathway (AOP) framework, this review examines similarities differences between mammalian teleost fish target, transporter (SERT; SLC6A4), downstream elevated extracellular (5-HT; 5-hydroxytryptamine), consequence SERT inhibition, organ systems processes fish. This also intends reveal potentially understudied endpoints toxicity based what is be controlled by 5-HT
