摘要: The efficiency of alpha-ketoisocaproate (KIC) as a dietary substitute for leucine in rats on varying protein intake was estimated by an isotopic method, previously shown to yield the same results comparative growth experiments. /sup 14/C-KIC and 3/H-leucine are injected orally. Six hours later ratio, R, 14/C//sup 3/H isolated proteins, divided ratio injectate is measured. This has been be approximately equal nutritional KIC relative leucine. As increased from 6.3% 48.3%, whole body R decreased 0.515 +/- 0.045 0.299 0.016. Variations with were noted individual organs. magnitude these organs varied two-fold, following sequence: brain greater than heart or skeletal muscle salivary gland kidney liver. Whole could confidently predicted (r2 = 0.992) muscle. Thus, well animal ismore » strongly dependent level intake.« less
