摘要: The unicellular green alga Dunaliella bardawil responds to high light, nutrient deprivation, and several other types of stress by massive accumulation beta-carotene. We have previously cloned a nuclear gene, cbr, that is co-induced with accelerated carotenogenesis. predicted product cbr closely related early light-induced proteins (Elips) higher plants, also shows resemblance chlorophyll a/b-binding proteins. In the present study, determination transcription start site supported proposed translation initiation. Antibodies raised against synthetic oligopeptide matching sequence Cbr recognized two polypeptides apparently 17 19 kDa were induced in parallel transcript highly illuminated or sulfate-starved D. cells. antibodies cross-reacted an approximately 20-kDa polypeptide salina. both salina, was found exclusively thylakoid membranes. After mild solubilization, co-fractionated light-harvesting complex II (LHCII) sucrose gradient centrifugation gel electrophoresis specifically associated minor LHCII complex. An occasionally observed, faster mobility form, free LHCII, probably released from larger These results support conclusion belongs class stress-induced transiently antennae complexes.
