摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the regulation of carotenoid biosynthesis. The carotenoids constitute most widespread group pigments in nature. They are present all photosynthetic organisms, where they form an essential part apparatus. also responsible for yellow to red colors flowers and fruits as occur within chromoplasts. In addition, found certain fungi some nonphotosynthetic bacteria. diversity structures, hence biosynthetic pathways group, together with their diverse locations functions complex organelles, such chloroplast or other membranes, clearly implies that efficient regulatory mechanisms cells control not only rates biosynthesis metabolism response environmental developmental changes but deposition at functional a cell. As terpenoids, related biosynthetically share common early pathway biologically important isoprenoids sterols, gibberellins, terpenoid quinines.
