摘要: In an effort to establish and document the hypoglycaemic activity ofMomordica charantiain validated models of diabetes, alcoholic extract pulp was studied. normal glucose primed rat model,M. charantiafruit extract, 500mgkg−1, depressed plasma levels by 10–15% at 1h. Under similar conditions, tolbutamide (100mgkg−1) caused approximately 40% reductions in both 1 2h. At efficacy ofM. charantiawas 25–30% tolbutamide. The reduction not accompanied increased insulin secretion. There no evidence tachyphylaxis effect charantiaextract on repeated dosing. streptozotocin diabetes rats, it improved oral tolerance causing significant (P<0.002) 26% 3.5h while metformin 40–50% 1, 2 3.5h.M. (500mgkg−1) a 4–5-fold increase rate glycogen synthesis from U-14C-glucose liver normally fed rats. These data suggest that mechanism action charantiacould be partly attributed utilization rather than secretion effect. This is first report characterized animal model systems known respond drugs.
