摘要: Background: there is a lack of evidence to inform treatment recommendations for very old people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Objective: evaluate trends in antidiabetic and cardiovascular drug utilisation patients developing T2DM over 80 years age. Methods: population-based cohort was sampled from the UK Clinical Practice Research Datalink between 1990 2013. Eligible were those diagnosed after age prescribed drugs. Results: twelve thousand eight hundred eighty-one patients, 61% females, included. From 2013, use sulphonylureas declined 94 29%, while metformin increased 22 86%. Prescribing antihypertensive drugs substantially 46 77%, lipid-lowering 1 64%, antiplatelets 34 47% oral anticoagulants 5 19%. Women more frequently (odds ratio 1.26, 95% confidence interval 1.17 1.37) but less (0.83, 0.78 0.89).
