摘要: Background: there is a lack of evidence to inform treatment recommendations for very old people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Objective: evaluate trends in antidiabetic and cardiovascular drug utilisation patients developing T2DM over 80 years age. Methods: population-based cohort was sampled from the UK Clinical Practice Research Datalink between 1990 2013. Eligible were those diagnosed after age prescribed drugs. Results: twelve thousand eight hundred eighty-one patients, 61% females, included. From 2013, use sulphonylureas declined 94 29%, while metformin increased 22 86%. Prescribing antihypertensive drugs substantially 46 77%, lipid-lowering 1 64%, antiplatelets 34 47% oral anticoagulants 5 19%. Women more frequently (odds ratio 1.26, 95% confidence interval 1.17 1.37) but less (0.83, 0.78 0.89). Compared 89 (n = 11,467, 89%), 90 1,414, 11%) likely be insulin (0.37, 0.24 0.58), (0.67, 0.60 0.75), (0.42, 0.38 0.48), (0.26, 0.23 0.30) (0.55, 0.44 0.68). Conclusions: have been major increases intensity pharmacological management age, effectiveness safety these interventions require further evaluation.
