摘要: The increasing molecular understanding of many diseases today permits the development new diagnostic methods. However, few easy-to-handle and inexpensive tools exist for common such as food disorders. Here we present a living material based analytical sensor (LiMBAS) containing genetically modified bacteria (Escherichia coli) immobilized protected in thin layer between nanoporous support polymer membrane facile quantification disease-relevant oligosaccharides. were engineered to fluoresce response analyte reveal its diffusion behavior when using blue-light source optical filter. We demonstrated that zone diameter was related semi-logarithmically concentration. LiMBAS could accurately quantify lactose or galactose undiluted samples able measure intolerance relevant concentrations range 1–1000 mM requiring sample volume 1–10 μL. storable at least seven days without losing functionality 4 °C. A wide genetic E. coli are readily available thus allowing reprogramming serve biosensor other molecules. In combination with smartphones, an automated analysis becomes feasible which would also allow untrained people use LiMBAS.
