摘要: High-speed machining (HSM) has become a research hotspot in the manufacturing field these years. In HSM, it requires toolpath to be very smooth. Any sharp corners will cause decelerations of feed axes. However, are inevitable generation process. This work focuses on smooth for HSM pocketing. The concept region subdivision is proposed and implemented. With this concept, input pocket firstly subdivided into two classes sub regions: regions low-speed (LSM) regions. For regions, path curves filled high speed set. LSM allowed low work, extracted as capsule-shape inside pocket. capsules, paperclip-shape used toolpath. These smoothly connected by semicircles line segments. intervals strictly controlled so that constant radial cutting depth can achieved. rest pocket, conventional offset toolpaths. capsule-based method tested with several comparative examples. Results show could generate larger more efficient toolpaths than maximum inscribed circle-based from authors’ previous work.
