摘要: This paper investigates two kinds of machining methods capable dimpling a ceramic surface: abrasive jet (AJM) and laser beam (LBM). A discussion the geometrical features dimples machined onto an Si 3 N 4 surface is presented first, followed by main topic, effect micro on strength degradation. Dimpling LBM can not be prevented from forming sharp edge around dimple, which may degrade ceramic. The AJM dimple has smooth-faced rounded shape, only negligible deterioration takes place.
