摘要: Each heterothallic filamentous ascomycete, for which there are complete molecular data, has a single mating type (MAT) locus represented by two idiomorphs. One idiomorph contains a single open reading frame (ORF) encoding a regulatory protein with a DNA-binding domain of the high mobility group type. The other idiomorph contains an ORF encoding a protein with a motif called the alpha box. It is proposed that these characters be used as the basis of MAT gene nomenclature.
