摘要: Despite improvement in surgical techniques, anesthetic management, and intensive care, a significant number of elderly patients develop postoperative cognitive decline. Postoperative dysfunction (POCD) is memory or thinking impairment that has been corroborated by neuropsychological testing, for which increasing age the leading risk factor. POCD multifactorial origin, but it remains unclear whether its occurrence result surgery general anesthesia. This article discusses incidence, assessment, consequences, prevention POCD, as well strategies to improve outcome patients.
