摘要: BACKGROUND: Considering the increasing levels of psychoactive substance use in Brazil and around world, it is necessary development an instrument to early detection, that could be considered valid, reliable useful at primary health care settings. In order do that, international team researchers, supported by World Health Organization (WHO) developed Alcohol Smoking Substance Screening Test (ASSIST). The objective present study was evaluate psychometric properties Brazilian version ASSIST, as well its reliability concurrent validity detection related problems. METHODS: ASSIST three validated diagnostic instruments (Mini-Plus, AUDIT, RTQ) were applied 99 patients primary/secondary services 48 treatment for alcohol drug dependence specialized services, Sao Paulo Curitiba cities. RESULTS: ASSIST' scores showed good correlation with AUDIT' scores. presented high sensitivity specificity alcohol, cannabis cocaine abuse/dependence, considering MINI-Plus "gold-standard". (Cronbach's alpha 0.80 0.79 0.81 cocaine). CONCLUSIONS: seem satisfactory, recommending services.
