摘要: For embedded power generation within civil gas turbine engines, generators are anticipated to endure high rotor speeds coupled with large diameters. With variable frequency permanent magnet finding increased roles because of the perceived higher torque density, issue integrity becomes a critical issue. Although banding has been previously used in surface mounted PM (SPM) machines, they inevitably increase airgap and hence reduce capability machine. The flux-switching (FSPM) machine an intense topic research for many years. By combining its armature field sources stator, is passive single piece, salient steel lamination, making it inherently suitable speed applications. This study compares both machines when optimised applications by designing rotors mechanical comparing electromagnetic performance. trade off optimisation FSPM found be negligible, contrast ~33~ reduction SPM flux linkage length. performance validated on scaled prototype.
