The experience of dysmenorrhoea among Ghanaian senior high and university students: pain characteristics and effects.

摘要: Background: Dysmenorrhoea is a common problem of women at the reproductive age and may have negative effect on education females various stages educational ladder. Context purpose: This study sought to gain an in-depth understanding experience dysmenorrhoea its female students in secondary tertiary institution Accra, Ghana. Methods: The employed descriptive phenomenology design was conducted University Senior High School (SHS) Accra. Purposive snowball sampling techniques were used recruit participants data saturated with 16 participants. Concurrent analysis done by applying processes content NVivo software manage data. Results: It realized that associated symptoms such as diarrhoea, headache vomiting. Pain start one week day menstruation severity differed across days menstruation. included activity intolerance, altered emotion interaction, sleep pattern, absenteeism inattentiveness, wishes regrets, misconceptions. Conclusions: concluded severe has debilitating misconceptions could result drastic action fatal consequences. Thus, there need enhance dysmenorrhoea, aggressive step should be taken effectively dysmenorrhoea.
