摘要: The results of limiting-dilution and dose-response experiments involving the primary immune response dispersed mouse spleen cells in Millipore diffusion chambers are presented. Sheep erythrocytes were employed as antigen assessed by enumeration hemolytic plaque-forming using classical Jerne technique. Limiting-dilution analysis demonstrated that number “response units” involved initiating was a linear function cell dose. frequency these units antigen-stimulated population also estimated. Logarithmic curves dealing with magnitude dose found to be biphasic. At low doses nonlinear dose, but this relationship abruptly became at higher doses. A stochastic model for initiation based on interaction two types is proposed compatible findings both experiments. This suggests unit formed multiplicative precursors antibody-forming antigen-reactive cells, former becoming transformed into through such an interaction. That is, individual able interact influence transformation more than one precursor per
