摘要: Land abandonment is an important process for the European Union, which primarily occurs in less productive, remote and mountainous areas with unfavourable conditions agriculture. Future management directions of these are under debate, increasing calls to adjust policies local characteristics, including promotion rewilding succession larger less-productive land. While there increase studies focusing on environmental impacts land abandonment, few that focus perceptions by different user groups, even though understanding perceptions, opportunities trade-offs associated changing crucial landscape-related planning measures. In a case study Northern Portugal, we used combination statements, photograph rating exercises open questions assess inhabitants, visitors experts regarding their preferences possible trajectories after abandonment. The results show all groups have negative response towards associate it mainly emotions loss heritage traditions. assessment stages outcomes clearly yielded explanations, can be as input finding common ground landscape management, reducing conflict starting point more spatially targeted nuanced approach.
