摘要: Eating behavior provides energy to ensure proper functioning of the organism. Reward aids in seeking foods that bring and pleasant taste, whose consumption is safe. As evidenced by obesity “epidemic” which largely stems from overeating, reward becomes a detriment when palatable tastants are available unlimited quantities. This review presents recent evidence on mechanisms underlying palatability-driven excessive sugar. Appetite for sugar propelled changes morphology activity system reminiscent addiction. Sugar intake also shifts hunger-satiety continuum, facilitating initiation absence needs maintenance feeding despite ingestion large food loads endanger homeostasis. Ingestion amounts relies triggering promote addictive-like behaviors, overriding neuroendocrine signals protect internal milieu.
