摘要: Purpose To describe the lived experience of mothers having an infant with neonatal jaundice. Study design and methods A descriptive phenomenological 6 who had infants Streubert's method phenomenology guided collection, organization, analysis data to abstract themes. Results Eight major themes emerged relating experience: (1) physical emotional exhaustion, (2) feeling robbed, (3) distressed by infant's appearance, (4) loss control, (5) maternal vigilance, (6) discounted but only for so long, (7) family impact, (8) supportive environment. Three mother's educational everyone has a different opinion, therefore no one really knows sure; defensive at fault; knowing now what I would do differently if another baby. Mothers reported receiving care advice contrary guidelines from multiple healthcare providers. Clinical implications In this study physical, emotional, learning needs were rarely met. Nurses are professionals have most contact new mothers, must remain current evidence appropriate care. Much be done help Additional studies about how nurses other providers interact families facing problem warranted.
