摘要: Background: In some neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), conven- tional overhead phototherapy is the only available, whereas others use fibreoptic blankets only. Several NICUs both treatments interchangeably. Aim: To explore how nurses experience of conventional versus phototherapy. Method: Six qualitative in-depth interviews involving at three different NI- CUs with in were conducted. Results: Following experiences revealed: i) Infants displayed discomfort while under phototherapy, blanket promoted infant satisfaction. ii) Blankets increased parents' satisfaction by facilitating bonding, breastfeeding and kangaroo care. iii) The disagreed as to whether treatment have similar effects. iv) Nurses concerned about possible harm eyes skin infants caused photo- therapy.
