摘要: Synthetic octacalcium phosphate (OCP) has a potential to enhance new bone formation and exhibits biodegradable characteristics when implanted in experimentally created defects. The precise mechanisms of OCP biodegradation remain unclear, though histological observations have revealed that bone-resorbing osteoclasts appear resorb OCP. To investigate how develop around OCP, we examined osteoclast differentiation using crystals vitro. Coculturing mouse marrow cells osteoblasts OCP-coated cell culture plates induced differentiation, whereas did not occur without coating. Further, addition morphogenetic protein-2 significantly increased the number wells. In presence expressed receptor activator NF-kappaB ligand (RANKL), an factor. addition, half each well was coated with were formed both noncoated areas, suggesting soluble factors mediate by Also, calcium levels medium decreased while experimental reduction from 8.0 5.0 mg/dL RANKL mRNA expression. These results suggest itself decreases which induces through expression osteoblasts.
