摘要: This study demonstrates a new nature-based solution (NBS) project in agriculture, the ‘Karla’ reservoir Central Greece, unique example at European scale, of lake ecosystem which was dried and is now restored with purpose to maximize efficiency water provision agriculture biodiversity enhancement. In this article, we present: (a) The historical developments from existence old natural Lake Karla until reconstruction homonymous artificial reservoir, (b) environmental economic benefits that delivers, (c) governance management mechanisms can ensure efficient operation project. analysis shows reconstructed serve as multi-purpose combat scarcity, achieving twofold crop yield production respective agricultural income surrounding area, securing coverage supply needs closest city, improving status groundwater resources, developing shelter for emerging recreation touristic opportunities. At same time, its construction costs be recovered, proposed plan viability whole inspiring similar retention projects investment environment southern Europe but also other scarce regions.
