摘要: Objective To gain understanding of general practitioners’ and patients’ opinions the routine introduction standardised measures severity depression through UK practice quality outcomes framework. Design Semistructured qualitative interview study, with purposive sampling constant comparative analysis. Participants 34 practitioners 24 patients. Setting 38 practices in three sites England: Southampton, Liverpool, Norfolk. Results Patients generally favoured for depression, whereas were cautious about validity utility such sceptical motives behind their introduction. Both patients considered that assessments should be seen as one aspect holistic care. General practical wisdom clinical judgment (“phronesis”) to more important than objective concerned reduced human element consultation. positive questionnaires, seeing them an efficient structured supplement medical evidence taking problems seriously a full assessment. aware potential manipulation indicators: economic reasons doctors avoid stigma or achieve desired outcomes. Conclusions Despite caution these may benefit primary care consultations by increasing confidence are correct diagnosis making systematic efforts assess manage mental health problems.
