摘要: Background The external carotid artery (ECA) can be an important collateral for cerebral perfusion in the presence of severe internal (ICA) disease. ICA stenting that covers ECA origin may put at increased risk stenosis. Our objective was to determine rate stenosis secondary stenting, predictive factors, and describe any subsequent associated symptoms. Methods We retrospectively reviewed clinical data on all stents crossing placed by vascular surgeons our institution. analyzed patient demographics, comorbidities, stent type sizes, as well medication profile predictors Results Between 2005 2013, there were 72 (out 119 total stenting) patients (mean age 71, 68% male) who underwent placement also crossed ECA. Six (8.3%) had a significantly postprocedure. There no occlusions. All with maintained patency their asymptomatic. Age, gender, size, not after stenting. Conclusions covering is uncommon clinically significant patent stents. significance concurrent unclear it captured here. potential should deter across if necessary. Patient factors are
