摘要: Many researchers have identified impulsivity-related personality traits as correlates of and risk factors for nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI). Using a longitudinal design, we tested the hypothesis that one such trait, negative urgency (the tendency to act rashly when distressed), predicts onset NSSI during first year college different lack perseverance disposition fail maintain focus on tasks are difficult or boring), maintenance college. In sample n=1,158 women (mean age=18.04, 95% participants were 18 at Time 1), found support these hypotheses. Negative urgency, measured prior entry, predicted behavior across (odds ratio=1.58). Lack status college, controlling ratio=1.73). These findings indicate may play roles in process NSSI.
