摘要: Abstract The detailed dynamic and thermodynamic space–time structures of the Madden–Julian oscillation (MJO) as simulated by superparameterized Community Atmosphere Model version 3.0 (SP-CAM) are analyzed. Superparameterization involves substituting conventional boundary layer, moist convection, cloud parameterizations with a configuration cloud-resolving models (CRMs) embedded in each general circulation model (GCM) grid cell. Unlike most GCMs that implement parameterizations, SP-CAM displays robust atmospheric variability on intraseasonal space time (30–60 days) scales. authors examine 19-yr simulation based Atmospheric Intercomparison Project protocol, forced prescribed sea surface temperatures. Overall, MJO convective disturbances very well represented SP-CAM. Compared to observations, produces similar vertical progression increased moisture, warmth, heating from layer t...
